United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)
UNEP FI is a public-private partnership between UNEP and the global financial sector. UNEP FI works with over 180 banks, insurance companies and investment firms to understand the impacts of environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations on financial performance and sustainable development. Through a comprehensive work programme, regional activities, training and research, UNEP FI carries out its mission to identify, promote and realise the adoption of best environmental and sustainability practice at all levels of financial institution operations.
The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)
The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) is an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP FI and the UN Global Compact. Launched in 2005 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and subsequently endorsed by current UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the PRI is a set of voluntary best practice principles to assist investors in integrating environmental, social and corporate governance issues into investment decision-making and ownership practices. To date, over 400 signatories worldwide from the institutional investment community, representing more than USD 15 trillion in assets under management, have committed to implement the Principles.
European Social Investment Forum (Eurosif)
Eurosif is a pan-European group whose mission is to address sustainability through financial markets. Current member affiliates of Eurosif include pension funds, financial service providers, academic institutes, research associations and NGO's. The association is a not-for-profit entity that represents assets totalling over Euro 600bn through its affiliate membership.
UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF)
UKSIF is the UK's membership network for sustainable and responsible financial services. UKSIF promotes responsible investment and other forms of finance that support sustainable economic development, enhance quality of life and safeguard the environment. They also seek to ensure that individual and institutional investors can reflect their values in their investments. The Forum was launched in 1991 to bring together the different strands of sustainable and responsible financial services within the UK and to act as a focus and a voice for the industry.
US Social Investment Forum (USSIF)
The US Social Investment Forum (USSIF) is the only national membership association dedicated to advancing the concept, practice, and growth of socially and environmentally responsible investing (SRI). The members integrate economic, environmental, social and governance factors into their investment decisions and SIF provides programs and resources to advance this work.
Ceres Coalition
Ceres (pronounced "series") is a US national network of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies and investors to address sustainability challenges such as global climate change. At its founding in 1989, Ceres introduced a bold new vision to the business community. That vision is of a world in which business and capital markets promote the well being of human society and the protection of the earth’s biological systems and resources. Ceres advances its vision by bringing investors, environmental groups and other stakeholders together to encourage companies and capital markets to incorporate environmental and social challenges into their day-to-day decision-making.
